Erin S Picton

PhD Student

Erin’s research interests are focused on covalent organic framework (COF) membrane materials at the energy-water nexus, including applications in energy storage, direct lithium extraction and water treatment. In addition to her research, Erin serves a senior TEX-E fellow, where she works with a cohort of Texas students in collaboration with MIT and Greentown Labs to build an entrepreneurship ecosystem around sustainable energy innovation. Erin is a current UH Chevron Energy Graduate Research Fellow and a Water Treatment Research Fellow for Prime Movers Lab, which funds breakthrough scientific startups. She has also spent time as a visiting graduate researcher at Argonne National Lab and at INSA in Lyon, France. Just prior to pursuing her PhD, she worked in R&D as the chief sustainability officer of a desalination startup company based out of Houston, TX. Erin earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Purdue University.
